Our Kindergarten Care Program is for children enrolled in AM kindergarten at:
Our schedule will follow the Calgary Board of Education traditional calendar and care includes all Professional Development Days and Spring Break. Children attending schools other than those listed may be considered for child care if parents can arrange their own transportation and the scheduling is complementary in nature.
In this program, we expand upon your child’s musicality with many songs in French and English, basic vocal training, and note recognition. We introduce the recorder, percussion instruments, cage bells, and everyone’s favourite – the kazoo!
Art projects are generally completed on a weekly basis to allow for each child’s own creative expression. Art is not pre-prepped, so the student is actually creating the piece on their own with only guidance from their instructor. This allows fine motor skills to develop naturally at their own pace.
After the children have returned from school and eaten lunch, students will be given some time to mentally recuperate from a long day at school. They can choose to relax with a story, chat with friends, or work puzzles.
Sometimes school projects and curriculum require additional time spent after school; with the majority of children enrolled in after school activities, time for such projects becomes a premium. Should a child need help or time to spend on school work, space will be allotted for homework to be completed. Staff members will be available to assist as their skill sets deem fit.
Being located in the Lake Bonavista Recreation Center, we are fortunate to be able to utilize the amenities of the facility. Dependent on the facility schedule, we are able to go skating, utilize the gymnasium, or play in the enclosed green space on the premises. Dependent on weather conditions, our play can include soccer, relay races, nature hunts and basketball, or snow activities in the colder months.
All students are transported to and from school via our school bus. In the event of a bus break down, every reasonable effort will be made to transport children to and from school including walking.
Program operates: Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM; 10:45 AM – 6:00 PM (Full daycare is provided every 2nd Friday for Andrew Sibbald Students)
Note: Snacks and lunch are not provided, and we ask that snacks and lunch you provide be nut-free in nature..
